Production blog: Last filming day - Search and Garage scenes!

Image
Hello there  my enthusiastic friends! In today's blog I will be talking about the final stretch of filming. Today is the day we film Marissa looking for Riley and Riley being found in the garage.   Peyton started by filming Marissa with a tracking shot of her getting off the couch saying, “here I come,” which she would put music over in the editing process. The montage of her searching would then begin. It was a bit of a challenge to steadily film her while walking from low on the couch to the stairs. But Peyton did a good job. Next, we all moved to the bathroom where Marissa would look for Riley behind the shower door. Peyton wanted to film this scene in a certain way, where the camera would be inside the shower, slightly showing what is past the door of the shower, and then Marissa would open the shower door. To do this, she gave her phone to me since she didn’t feel right standing in their shower. I definitely wouldn’t want anyone but myself standing

Production blog: Meet up day!

Hello there  my enthusiastic friends! In today's blog I will be discussing how me, and my group planned the next few scenes. We all met up at Starbucks. Marissa drove me and Rily and Peyton met us there. I got my all-time favorite drink, a caramel ribbon crunch Frappuccino. Riley and Marissa got a cake pop. And Peyton got a coffee. Peyton brought a planner, so we were all able to write down our work schedule and when we were free. I just recently started at Sicilian Oven as a hostess. So now Marissa, Riley and me all have a job. Which is why planning is so important because we are all very busy. We talked about when the next filming day would be. We decided on sometime next week because of everyone's work schedule. The weekend would be easier for us all due to the lack of school. And plus, the amount of homework each of us has is enough to keep us busy for a while. So, we had to plan accordingly around that. And I do tend to procrastinate so I had to ke

Production blog: changing the script!

Image
Hello there  my enthusiastic friends! In today's blog I will be discussing how Peyton and Marissa changed the script. They started by changing the scene of a two shot on the couch. They changed the script to have Marissa saying, "my sister". In order to make the relationship become more obvious and to have conversation flow normally. They also created an over the shoulder shot for one of Riley's scenes. They did it when Marissa said " Well, its honestly for the best. She was never that good anyway". So, they changed that in order to show Riley's point of view better. The next scene they changed was a single shot of riley. Where they had to have Marissa get off the couch so Peyton could take her place to get the shot from her point of view.  Also, we had to change Riley's next line to " yeah, I guess you're right". And before the hide and seek shoot we had to change one of the angles back to a two shot. It's when Mar

Production blog: second day of filming

Hello there  my enthusiastic friends! In today's blog I will be talking about the second day of filming. We filmed most of our outdoor scenes. Since the last time we met up we couldn't due to the rain. We started with a scene of me and Riley in our flashback stage. It was me and her walking hand and hand skipping. Showing how good of friends we were at that time. Peyton filmed us walking to the pool from behind us and in front of us. The next shot was me and Riley outside by the pool talking. The wind messed us up so it took a few takes to get it right. It was more of a further away shot than what we had been doing in order to get the whole scenery. Me and Riley had to sit on two chairs and talk and show off our stuffed animals. After we finished that scene, we went back to my house to film the last flashback scene outside. Me and Riley had to play with chalk on the road and write our names in a heart. This was all to show our age and our friendship. In

Production blog: First filming day

Hello there  my enthusiastic friends! In today's blog I will be discussing what it was like on my groups first official filming day! Riley and Peyton came to my house on the weekend to film our first few scenes. We really wanted to finish all of me and Riley's flashback scenes. But some of them required us to go outside. And it was downpouring yet again. So, we filmed all of our flashback scenes that required us to be inside the house. We started by going up stairs to film Riley braiding my hair to show how good of friends we are. We had some trouble with the lighting because we wanted to put the LED lights in the room on, but it showed up weird in the takes. So, we kept the normal lighting. After we filmed this scene, we went downstairs to film part of the hide and seek scene of when me and Riley were playing. They decided that it would be a good idea for me to hide in the washing machine... Now I'm 17 years old. I was surprised I was able to fit in t

Production blog: Prep day!

Welcome  back my enthusiastic friends! In today's blog I will be talking about the  preparations me, and my group did in order to start the filming process. We all met up after school to start our shopping for the items. The first six scenes are a little flash back of me and Riley as children, therefore we needed children's clothes. So, we ended up going to target and going into the kids' section and finding what would match perfectly for the age we are representing. It was quite the challenge as nothing fit us at all. We ended up settling on a pair of dresses we found. Then we looked around for accessories. We found a 12 pack of bracelets on sale and bought those.  I owned stuffed animals, so we used ones I had in my room as props, so we didn't have to shop for those. Our next trip was to party city to get a fake knife, blood and handcuffs. This is when the design started becoming real and we were able to see the whole vision play out. We aren't usin

Failed first filming day !

Hello there  my enthusiastic friends! In today's blog I will be discussing what it was like for me and my group mates on the first day of filming. Once Me and Riley started feeling better me and my group planned a date to meet up and film. We all knew that we didn't want to film after school due to homework and we were all tired from school. So, we decided that filming on someday over the weekend would be a lot easier. Unfortunately, Marissa could not get out of work because she was called in last minute. She works at a restaurant so working around her schedule does get tough sometimes. Even know Riley was able to take off of work on Saturday, which was the day we were supposed to film, Sunday she had work. And to make matters worse, even if we could film it was pouring outside. It would have been perfect for the indoor scenes though. The sky was dark and gloomy. Going perfect with the emotions we are trying to provoke with our thriller. Making it impossible to ev

Sickness took over!

Welcome back my enthusiastic friends! In today's blog I will be talking about the struggles my group had with the beginning of our production. We had all decided that we wanted to start the production after we finished our storyboard. But mother nature had other plans. I ended up getting the flu and missing a week of school. I was sick for about three weeks and couldn't get out of bed. And to make matters worse after I got over the flu, I must have transferred it to Riley because she ended up getting it to. So, this set us back a few weeks. Since then, when we all felt better me, and my group sat down and discussed our schedules and what days we will start the filming process. Maing this schedule definitely helped us all out in terms or organization and visualization. We did have to edit some dates around as Riley and Marissa both have jobs. So, me and my group have to work around two different work schedules in order to film. And we had to figure out transp
